Summary:
The wife of former Scotland footballer Colin Hendry has died after spending twelve weeks in intensive care. Denise Hendry only became 42 years old. She lived in Lytham, Lancashire with her husband and children. During a cosmetic surgery she developed a meningitis-type infection. This is something that would come back later. She would constantly campaign about the dangers of cosmetic surgery and warn people about the consequences. Mr. en Mrs. Hendry had four children aged between the ages of nine and nineteen. Ex football colleagues think it is very tragic what happened and hope for the best for Mr. Hendry and his family.
Reaction:
It is a sad thing. She was only 42 when she died. Cosmetic surgery is not safe and Mrs. Hendry knew this too. This is why I am against this form of surgery. In extreme cases I think that this kind of operations are helpfull. But in every other situation they can only do harm. Unfortunately not everybody thinks this way. Sadly ironicly Denise thought the same way. However it was too late for her. She has left four young children and a husband, I feel for the family. Especially because this was a celebrity family I hope that they will not be bothered by the press.

Teacher on murder attempt charge
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england/nottinghamshire/8145352.stm
Summary:
Peter Harvey was arrested after an unusual incident took place at the All Saints Roman Catholic School in Mansfield. The 49 year old science teacher has been charged for the attempted murder of a fourteen year old student at the school. Police say that the incident probably took place at the school in Broomhill lane on last Wednesday. Currently Peter Harvey is being held in custody. The injured fourteen year old boy was taken to King´s Mill Hospital but he was then later transferred to Queen´s Medical Centre in Nottingham. It was there where his condition was described as serious but stable.
Reaction:
This is a sick story. A teacher is someone children should be able to trust and that trust must not be abused by crazy people like this man. I do not know what has driven this man to act in such a way. And I guess I will also not know why he has chosen this boy specifically as his victim. Crimes like this, especially against children turn my stomach. There is no excuse for what Peter Harvey has done. I cannot imagine how the child´s parents must feel at a moment like this. My heart goes out to them.

Ronaldo completes £80m Real move
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/m/man_utd/8121951.stm
Summary:
Portugese footballstar is now officially the most expensive footballplayer to have ever lived on earth. His transfer to Real Madrid for approximately 80 million pound is the most expensive one. He has signed a contract for six years. He will also be presented at the sixth of July. Sir Alex Ferguson has only good things to say about his former superstar winger. Things like, he is the best player and Cristiano has been a marvellous player for Manchester United. This transfer is one of the many that we can expect from Real Madrid. They recently bought Kaka for 56 million pound.
Reaction:
I think this is great. I am a big fan of Ronaldo and Real Madrid. The fact that there are people willing to pay this much for the skills of a football player says only that football is the most loved sport in the world. However if transfer fees keep rising this much who knows where it will end. With the economic crisis right now it is not logical that Real Madrid is spending this kind of money. I say enough is enough. There has to be a limit to the money clubs can spend to purchase a player. As a football fan I think this is the best for the sport

Harry Potter star 'had swine flu'
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/8134632.stm
Summary:
Harry Potter actor Rupert Grint was recovering from a not so bad case of the swine flu. He was ill during the shooting of the newest Harry Potter film. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood prince. Grint who plays Ron Weasly took a few days of. But has returned now healthy and all. Luckily for him his case was not lethal. During his absence thay filmed scenes that did not include him. But now he is all better and ready to act again. He will also be able to attend the world premiere of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.
Reaction:
I think it is crazy that the swine flu is active in the United Kingdom. It is even worse that someone could be affected by this disease. Not only Grint but other people too. We were warned about this disease beforehand so I think there should have been a plan or some kind of solution by now. However I am very happy to hear that Grint is all right now. I like the Harry Potter films and I was looking forward to see this one. It would be a shame if they had to postpone this part for a year or so. Or even worse, spot the filming al together.

Rise reported in UK house prices
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/8073157.stm
Summary:
The economic crisis is causing a lot of chaos in the current house market. People have less money to spend in these circumstances with their financial conditions. This and the fact that people whom have less money to spend will try to sell their houses/property as expensive as possible, makes sure that less and less houses/properties are being sold. This is turning out very negatively for the British house market. This makes owners want to rent out their property instead of selling it. However according to experts this will not last long anymore, whoever want to buy should do so now or within the next 6 months if they want get the most profit.
Reaction:
I think this is a very nasty situation. It is kind of a downward spiral. People cannot buy because they have little money to spend and this is being contradicted by people who want to sell for as much money as possible. I think that this should be taken care of by the roots. However because of this vicious circle it is not easy to find out where it all started. Luckily for the British experts claim that this will soon be over. Within now and six months they said. So it is best to just sit this out and try to recover as best as possible because it will soon be over.

Nigerian group frees UK hostage
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/8006961.stm
Summary:
Robin Barry Hughes, an oil worker, has just been released from being held hostage in Nigeria. He has been held hostage by the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta. They handed him over to the military in the Southern oil region in Nigeria. He is supposedly released because of age and health reasons. These kidnappers say they will continue to kidnap ‘High value oil workers from Western Europe en North America’. There also was a possibility of another British hostage but there is no proof to support this. Most of the already 27 kidnapped victims have already been released.
Reaction:
This is an absolute outrage. How can incidents like this still happen? It should not be possible for 27 people to be held hostage in Nigeria. This is mans ugliest side. All of this because of financial reasons, it is sad. The kidnappers at least showed some compassion by releasing Robin Barry Hughes, but the only reason they did this was because his health and age. So I can conclude that they would not act in this way if he was young and healthy and that is degrading. I really think this should be fought against because such things do not belong in this world.

Diving prodigy Tom Daley admits to being school bullies' target
http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2009/apr/19/tomdaley-diving
Summary:
Tom Daley is the victim of bullying at school. His peers have been bullying him for a long time now but right after his participation at the 2008 Beijing Olympics it reached its peak and since then stayed there. He says that everyone including the young kids are guilty of bullying him. This has not been a good influence for his results. He is kind of used to it and just tries to avoid and ignore it. In a diving competition in Sheffield he and his partner finished last. This is a major setback but he is keeping in mind the 2012 Olympics and other competitions.
Reaction:
This is absolutely outrageous! Tom Daley has a very difficult life with over 30 hours a week of training and next to that he also has school. Instead of picking on him they should admire him for what he has achieved. These kids are probably unhappy about their own life and try to get him down too. Just because he is successful they do not have the right to treat him like that. He represents the UK and even has a major fan base in China. How can people from his own country treat him like this?
