Nigerian group frees UK hostage

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/8006961.stm

Summary:
Robin Barry Hughes, an oil worker, has just been released from being held hostage in Nigeria. He has been held hostage by the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta. They handed him over to the military in the Southern oil region in Nigeria. He is supposedly released because of age and health reasons. These kidnappers say they will continue to kidnap ‘High value oil workers from Western Europe en North America’. There also was a possibility of another British hostage but there is no proof to support this. Most of the already 27 kidnapped victims have already been released.

Reaction:
This is an absolute outrage. How can incidents like this still happen? It should not be possible for 27 people to be held hostage in Nigeria. This is mans ugliest side. All of this because of financial reasons, it is sad. The kidnappers at least showed some compassion by releasing Robin Barry Hughes, but the only reason they did this was because his health and age. So I can conclude that they would not act in this way if he was young and healthy and that is degrading. I really think this should be fought against because such things do not belong in this world.

Diving prodigy Tom Daley admits to being school bullies' target

http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2009/apr/19/tomdaley-diving

Summary:
Tom Daley is the victim of bullying at school. His peers have been bullying him for a long time now but right after his participation at the 2008 Beijing Olympics it reached its peak and since then stayed there. He says that everyone including the young kids are guilty of bullying him. This has not been a good influence for his results. He is kind of used to it and just tries to avoid and ignore it. In a diving competition in Sheffield he and his partner finished last. This is a major setback but he is keeping in mind the 2012 Olympics and other competitions.

Reaction:
This is absolutely outrageous! Tom Daley has a very difficult life with over 30 hours a week of training and next to that he also has school. Instead of picking on him they should admire him for what he has achieved. These kids are probably unhappy about their own life and try to get him down too. Just because he is successful they do not have the right to treat him like that. He represents the UK and even has a major fan base in China. How can people from his own country treat him like this?
